Comments from the New Orleans Saints, NFL accused by Who Dat? Inc. of trademark infringement

Saying and chant predates their involvement and has entered into common usage. Their lawyer must be taking them for a ride if he is filing this suit.

I’m curious just how hard they even tried to ‘obtain financial fruits’ with this saying….until the controversy with NFL and the 2 stores (only one of which I remember the name), nobody had heard of this tool…..

These guys are sheisters to the max. I was at a lawyers CLE where we discussed the who dat trademark controversy and these guys tried to hijack the conference by claiming they were the true owners of who dat because they took the chant and put it in a song. Everybody was extremely put off and brought up the fact that these douches never once have tried to enforce their mark until now. F-off D-bags.

They have a ton more.. and if you want to read them all check out this link.

House panel approves license plate for New Orleans Saints fans

BATON ROUGE — Design of a license plate that will allow New Orleans Saints fans to show pride in their Super Bowl championship team cleared its first legislative hurdle today and now goes to the full House for debate.

The House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works gave unanimous approval to House Bill 1165 by Rep. Jeff Arnold, D-Algiers, that creates the tag, to be designed in conjuction with the team.

The tag that will cost drivers a premium fee of $25 a year, a $3.50 administrative fee for the Office of Motor Vehicles and the regular cost of a tag which is based on the value of the  vehicle.

The $25 annual fee, Arnold said, will be rebated to the parishes where the tags are bought with the revenues donated to recreational programs.

Randy Haynie, a lobbyist for the Saints, told the panel that the bill has the approval of the  team and the National Football League.

“Who dat” license plate could be coming to Louisiana

Posted by Mike Florio on March 29, 2010 3:55 PM ET
While playing MSNBC in the background as part of my effort to be remotely versed in political issues and current events in the event Sid Rosenberg of WQAM radio in Miami opts to throw me a curve ball with a non-football question, David Schuster mentioned a bill in the Louisiana Legislature that would authorize a license plate dedicated to the Saints. The rectangular slab of tin would bear a fleur-de-lis, the Louisiana state seal, and the phrase “Who Dat Nation.”

Since it apparently would not include the word “Saints” or any other NFL-owned trademark, the league would likely not be entitled to a cut.  Which seems a bit unfair, given all the license plates that incarcerated NFL players have made over the past several years.

Pierre Thomas won’t skip workouts

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 26, 2010 12:55 PM ET

Thumbnail image for P. Thomas.jpgSaints running back Pierre Thomas was one of the most underpaid backs in football last year, making the league minimum while he led the Saints backfield in rushing.

He is hoping for a long-term extension this offseason, but he won’t skip OTAs in an effort to get paid.

“It’s a business and it’s up to them,” Thomas said.  “You know, I’m putting my resume out there, showing them what I can do.”

New Orleans Saints, NFL accused by Who Dat? Inc. of trademark infringement

By Jaquetta White, The Times-Picayune

March 24, 2010, 9:23AM

Who Dat? Inc., the company that made a 1983 recording featuring the “Who Dat” chant associated with the New Orleans Saints football team, has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the Saints organization, the National Football League, the State of Louisiana and the Secretary of State. The suit claims that those parties have either directly or indirectly violated the company’s trademark.

The suit, filed in federal district court in Baton Rouge, says NFL Properties, LLC, New Orleans Saints LLC, the secretary of state of Louisiana and the state of Louisiana, “conspired to defraud” by interfering “with its prospective and other business relationships by engaging in a coordinated public effort to disseminate false information about Who Dat?, Inc. for the purpose of driving Who Dat?, Inc. out of business or making it impossible for Who Dat?, Inc. to continue to commercially use the ‘WHO DAT’ marks.”

NO NO….New Orleans Saint Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian split again?

By The Times-Picayune

March 23, 2010, 2:32PM

There’s been some buzz about New Orleans Saint Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian splitting up again. This afternoon, E! News, USA Today and TMZ are reporting that Reggie and Kim have indeed called it quits.

Supposedly, the couple agreed not to talk about it publicly and the split isn’t particularly nasty. The couple have dated since 2007 and throughout the Saints winning season Kim and her family were often seen in and around New Orleans.

Fans of Kim’s reality series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” may have to wait for the show to cover the break up as there’s been no official confirmation from either star’s rep.
