CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On the same day the Carolina Panthers gave Cam Newton permission to seek a trade that he says he didn’t ask for, the team agreed to give free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater a three-year, $63 million deal, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Bridgewater is guaranteed $40 million in the first two seasons, a league source told ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
The contract is expected to be done by the time the new league year begins Wednesday, the source said.
That news came hours after Newton responded to the team’s post on Instagram saying that he could seek a trade.
METAIRIE, La. — Drew Brees has agreed to a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints that is worth $50 million, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.
The $25 million per year is the same value as the previous deal he signed with the Saints in 2018. The deal is even more team-friendly than last time, considering the inflation of quarterback salaries since then.
Drew Brees is set to return for his 20th NFL season and during an appearance on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show, the Pro Bowl quarterback said he’s unsure of his plans beyond 2020 but said he’d only play any future seasons with the New Orleans Saints.
“Listen, I don’t have any intention of going anywhere,” Brees said. “I don’t care what the offer would be or what the situation might be. I’m Who Dat Nation for life.
“And so, as long as they’ll have me and as long as I want to play, that’s where I’ll be.”
Brees turned 41 in January made the statement when asked about fellow all-time great Tom Brady’s potential departure from the New England Patiots. Brees said on the show his goal is to win another championship much like Brady.
Every offseason list of potential free agents will have New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees near the top.
Apparently, you can prepare to take the 41-year-old off the board in the near future.
Speaking from his 13th Pro Bowl appearance, Brees told NFL Network’s Jane Slater that if he returns for a 20th NFL season, it will be with the Saints.
“I have never been in the situation where I was mulling over the thought of [returning],” Brees said. “To me, each one of these contracts, I don’t know how many it’s been with the Saints, I’ve played with them 14 years, it’s not a matter of if it gets done, it’s when. At this stage of my career, it’s not a given that I’m coming back every year, but when that time comes, I’ll always be a Saint.”
Arguably one of the most enthusiastic and recognizable fan bases in the NFL, The Big Easy Mafia, was founded in 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a part of the Who Dat Nation, The Big Easy Mafia are the Diehard members of the Saints fanbase. Many of whom dawn black and gold outfits every game at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

Drew Brees declined to comment on whether Sunday’s 26-20 loss to the Minnesota Vikings would his last game with the New Orleans Saints.
“I’m not making any comments on that, other than I’ve told you guys this over the last couple of years, I’ve always just taken it one year at a time and kind of reevaluate each offseason and find the things I want to get better at and move one,” Brees said.
The NFL’s All-Time leading passer just completed the 19th season of his NFL career, one that saw him set the league record for touchdown passes and throw for nearly 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns despite missing five games with an injured right thumb.
When the New Orleans Saints appeared to be in their most dire straights offensively, they turned to the player who can do it all to get them right.
And in a losing effort, Taysom Hill really did a little bit of everything Sunday in the Superdome, and he did it at a high level. Playing his typically varied role on the field, Hill finished Sunday’s playoff game with 50 passing yards, a team-high 50 rushing yards and two catches on two targets for 25 yards and a touchdown.
