Unknown Who Dat’s identity revealed

By Doug MacCash, The Times-Picayune

December 17, 2009, 10:39PM

Maryland resident Bill Harris had no idea that fame was stalking when he attended the Saints/Redskins game with his son on Dec. 6. He wasn’t aware that television cameras panning the crowd had captured his spirited support of the boys in black and gold. Nor was he aware that his unconventional charms had inspired a fan Web site and won him thousands of Facebook devotees, who considered him the unbeaten Saints’ anonymous mascot and were eagerly seeking his identity.

Earlier this week Harris’ niece Holly Wallace called radio station Mix 92.3 to reveal the identity of her Uncle Bill, who had lived in New Orleans from the age of 12 to 21, and become a lifelong Saints fan. On Thursday morning Harris appeared by telephone on the Mike and Stacey in the Morning show, where he discussed his unexpected stardom.

Free travel advice.

Was sent this by a fan of the whodatnation who saw it on a blog.

Free travel advice. The developing custom in New Orleans this season has been to welcome the Saints home as they return from road victories. Obviously, with each victory, the crowd gets a little larger. If you’ve got a flight out of New Orleans on Sunday night, you might want to head to the airport about five hours early, just in case the Saints get past the Falcons. Not to get too far ahead of things, but, if you have a flight out of New Orleans on the night of Jan. 3, you might want to move it up to Jan. 2 or just stick around. Jan. 3 is the day the Saints close their regular season in Carolina. If they’re 16-0, you even might want consider flying out of Pensacola, Fla.

New Orleans Saints cornerback Jabari Greer has sports hernia surgery; expected back for playoffs

By Mike Triplett, The Times-Picayune

December 10, 2009, 11:46AM

Saints cornerback Jabari Greer had surgery Tuesday to repair a sports hernia, but the Saints are hoping he’ll be back in time for the playoffs, Coach Sean Payton confirmed.

Greer’s injury was originally diagnosed as a groin problem, but when he tried to return to practice the last two weeks, it was discovered that he had a sports hernia issue as well. The team decided that if he had the surgery now with Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia that he would have a better chance of being fully healed for the playoffs.

The Saints have had a rash of sports hernia injuries in the last two years. Last year, tight end Jeremy Shockey had surgery performed by Dr. Meyers and missed three games. But he wasn’t quite 100 percent when he came back, and the injury remained a nagging problem.

Defensive end Will Smith played through a sports hernia injury all last season, then had surgery in January. Left tackle Jammal Brown had surgery in August to repair a sports hernia, but he also had surgery on a lingering hip injury that landed him on injured reserve.

Greer could be back in time for the regular season finale at Carolina if the Saints want to get him some live work, but more likely he will remain sidelined until their playoff opener. With just one more victory, the Saints will be guaranteed a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Why does Jeff Duncan have to pee on our parade?

The Who Dat Nation has risen up and lashed out against Jeff Duncan and the Times Picayune for writing a negative drama laced story about Bush and the Saints.

This is the offending peice of garbage. The Media will do or say anything to “create” a story.

Here are some of the comments below:

from kewlbrees on nola.com: for the life of me i just cant understand why jeff you wont to print a article like this . it just dont make no sence you you work for a new orleans paper u live in new orleans .

even if everthing you say is true why bring that junk up we goint to 12 an 0.cant you find someting postive to write about in a 11 an 0 season going for 12 an 0

it seems like you are trying to start crap you no all this will do is cause problems . are you just trying to destroy us cause talk in the locker room

jeff just answer one question for me why now why when getting ready for the playoffs you write this trash

they is a bussiness side to pro football i dont no how it works so i am calling on saints fans am i wrong to challage jeff on this article is it just bussiness or should this stuff be written about in the off season

i hope i am wrong but it looks like jeffs is trying his best just to stir up trouble. maybe i am over reacting

i be the the first to admit i not the sharpen knife in the drawer when it comes to the bussiness side of pro football

but could someone please tell me why this article should be printed when we going down the wire to the playoffs. on the day we could take the south me personel i thank it is pure crap , not saying wheather it true or not but why now

as saints fans we all ought to tell jeff what we thank of this article ; but being i am pretty dumb to the bussiness side i wait for you guys reaction maybe it is fair game maybe he is just doing his job maybe it just me sees someone trying to destroy our season

ok i shut up

Here are some other comments:

nofanatic: No need to shut up kewlbrees.

You are right that this story has no place right now. These guys are trying to do the unthinkable for us that have watched them for years…..go to the Superbowl and win.

Jeff is right about the injuries but also failed to mention that in the two games before the bone bruise Bush looked like a different back. He was finishing plays, not going out of bounds and hitting the hole hard and quick. Regardless of how Bush plays when he returns I see at least a restructured contract next year. But that is for next year.

Put a lid on this crap until after the season Duncan.

Kewlbrees: we got the best overall team i sen in 30 years evertime we step on the field we breaking old records . we playing as a team that is our core of our power it is one player not even brees not even the offense ,the defense feeds off the offense and the offense feeds off the defense total team work

i am bias i am a saints fan but i haver in my 63 years seen a team work as well as these saints total team work from top to bottom

even payton an willams trhey work togother never seen a better defense an offense except maybe dikta an ryan an they ened up destroying each other it seems like payton an willams are a well oil machine

my point why cant jeff write about that why cant he write about the best team the saints have ever put on the field

boy this makes me mad of all the things to write about

monroesaint: Jeff, I understand the need to produce a new article, but certainly there are many more positive stories to share about this great season. The sports writers should be an extension of the fans and the team, sharing in the excitement of this magical season. We understand the business side, and know that many players, not just Reggie, will undergoe scrutiny by team officials regarding their value versus their salaries, but these discussions are for after the season. During the season, this team has EARNED the right to expect our support, praise and excitement for their accomplishments. Let’s continue to write about the positive impact of our great team and this incredible, never-before-seen success; regardless of when and where it ends. I know you love this team as much as we do – write about that.

Take the time to read them all. For as lame as the story is, the swift reaction from the WHO DAT NATION makes me feel a bit better.

Now its back to focusing on the Redskins!!
