If there’s anything New Orleans has shown the world during the past two weeks — through spontaneous second-lines following the Saints‘ victory over the Minnesota Vikings; a trademark-shattering outcry over the National Football League’s claim to ownership of “Who Dat”; a parade of more than 1,000 men in dresses paying homage to late WWL radio personality Buddy Diliberto and the Saints’ Super Bowl XLIV bid — it’s that we have spirit.
Yes, we do.
We have spirit, and it’s guaranteed to grow to a fever pitch starting today and tomorrow with a pair of public pep rallies, all leading up to the big day: Super Bowl Sunday.

Madden NFL popped into headlines today, predicting a sunny Super Bowl win for the New Orleans Saints, and eight months of winter for the Indianapolis Colts.
Every year, Electronic Arts runs a Super Bowl simulation within their video game, Madden NFL. And five out of the last six years, the game’s results have predicted the Super Bowl winner correctly. The simulation’s only miss was the Giants’ Super Bowl XLII victory over the Patriots, and even Nostradamus couldn’t have seen that one coming.
This year, Madden NFL predicts a close Saints victory, with a final score of 35 – 31 over the Colts. According to the game, Drew Brees will be named the MVP after passing for 299 yards and three touchdowns. Reggie Bush will account for two more touchdowns, one rushing, and one on a punt return.

Mardi Gras falls on a Sunday this year.
The city of the New Orleans Saints is filling up with expatriates and others ahead of the Super Bowl, many looking to cast off a legacy of football futility and natural disaster — others just looking to party down in one of the world’s greatest party towns.
“We’re gearing up for Sunday just like Mardi Gras day,” said Earl Bernhardt, a bar owner in the French Quarter. “We’re staffing just like we do for Mardi Gras, and if the Saints win, we won’t close at all. We’ll stay open as long as people are standing.”
After 43 years in existence, the Saints will make their Super Bowl debut in Miami on Sunday, facing the favored Indianapolis Colts.
Fans from most cities would be headed to South Florida about now. But for ex-pat New Orleanians, the game is triggering a pilgrimage home. And for everybody back in town, the party’s already started.
A few are taking the week off in the countdown to game day. Others are punching the clock, but not getting much done. Saints jerseys, “Who Dat?” T-shirts and black and gold beads are the uniform everywhere you go.

Well a few members of the Whodatnation made it to South Beach to check out where the parties would be over the next few days. Well we stopped on Ocean Drive and had lunch, sitting at a table on the side walk near the ESPN stage. At the end of dinner had some drinks still full when it was time to leave….. SO … we asked for “GO CUPS” and guess what? We received them : ) So all of the stories are not 100% true they do seem to enjoy us (sporting Saints gear) in their town and had no problems walking around with open containers.. so come out and enjoy Miami !

BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana’s attorney general said Monday that shops can sell T-shirts with the phrase “Who Dat” and the fleur-de-lis symbol if they don’t make other references to the New Orleans Saints or the National Football League.
Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said he had a conference call with the NFL’s general counsel to discuss cease-and-desist letters that some Louisiana T-shirt makers received from the league. The letters demanded that the businesses stop selling shirts featuring the phrase that’s part of a popular cheer by Saints fans, citing trademark infringement.
“They’ve conceded and they’ve said they have no intention of claiming the fleur-de-lis, which would be ridiculous, or the ‘Who Dat,’ which would be equally ridiculous,” Caldwell said.

Jay Vise Reporting
“Mr. Mardi Gras,” Blaine Kern, today revealed the initial details of the plan to celebrate the Saints’ winning season when they get back from the Super Bowl.
In an exclusive interview with WWL First News, Kern talked about the city’s plans for the big welcome-home celebration for the New Orleans Saints.
“We’re going to do that for the city,” Kern said. “We’ll have a hell of a parade on the streets for the Saints.”
Kern confirmed that the parade will likely start at the Superdome on Tuesday February 9th, and then will trek to his East Bank Mardi Gras World location next to the convention center.
That is where Kern said that the major Saints celebration will take place.
