Henderson living the dream

Fans lined the breezeway outside Brothers on the Boulevard on Saturday to get an autograph from Saints receiver Devery

Henderson.

Henderson, an Opelousas native and second-round draft pick of the Saints in 2004, recently wrapped up his sixth NFL season helping his team to a 31-17 win in Super Bowl XLIV, a game in which he had seven receptions for 63 yards.

Since then, Opelousas and the entire state of Louisiana, for that matter, hasn’t been the same.

Henderson saw firsthand as he entered the store to a multitude of cheers.

“It’s good to see how much the fans appreciate me, the team and what we’ve done,” Henderson said.

Crowds pack the streets to see Drew Brees reign as Mardi Gras’ King of Bacchus

By Katie Urbaszewski, The Times-Picayune

It was an incredible convergence of events, even for a superkrewe used to drawing massive crowds.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees reigned as king, it was Valentine’s Day, and the weather was picture perfect.

Bacchus had a masterful night.

When the parade began rolling along the traditional Uptown route Sunday, the crowds were substantially larger than usual, according to krewe members and parade-goers.

Rapper storms Miami with New Orleans Saints anthem in hand

By Keith Spera, The Times-Picayune

February 07, 2010, 5:30AM

MIAMI BEACH — On Friday night, Who Dats overran the 900 block of Ocean Drive, South Florida’s upscale Bourbon Street-on-the-beach.

Pooled between a bar called Fat Tuesday and a big white tent and stage, they stood up and got crunk to the New Orleans Saints anthem “Black and Gold (Who Dat!).” Standing anonymously on the crowd’s fringe, Kwame Gates soaked in the ecstatic scene, pleased.

Not just another Saints fan in a Robert Meachem jersey, he is known as K.Gates in hip-hop circles. And “Black and Gold” is his creation.
