New Orleans Saints reportedly discussing Reggie Bush trade with Miami Dolphins

By Mike Triplett, The Times-Picayune

The New Orleans Saints are reportedly discussing a rare “sign and trade” arrangement that would send tailback Reggie Bush to the Miami Dolphins, according to Fox’s Jay Glazer.

Glazer tweeted that the two teams have worked out the terms of a trade that is contingent on Bush agreeing to a new contract with the Dolphins. He said Bush’s agent Joel Segal is negotiating with the Dolphins late into the night.

New Orleans Saints add two more undrafted free agents

By James Varney, The Times-Picayune

Reports indicate the Saints have added two more undrafted free agents to their roster. If true – and the Saints have not commented on a single named player since the NFL lockout ended Monday – it would bring to 11 the number of such players to join the Saints.

One of the players was North Dakota State cornerback Josh Gatlin, the other Coy Beilby, an offensive tackle out of Marian University.

New Orleans Saints make Clemson safety team’s first undrafted free agent signee

By James Varney, The Times-Picayune

The Saints have wasted no time jumping into the undrafted free agent pool, and the first player expected in Metairie later this week is Clemson strong safety DeAndre McDaniel, according to published reports. Clubs were allowed to talk with ndrafted free agents Monday night, just hours after the players signed off on the framework for a new collective bargaining agreement.

McDaniel, 6-feet, 217, was a first team All-ACC player and third team All-American last year. He finished his Clemson career having played in 53 games, which tied a school record, and 35 starts. In that span he recorded 296 tackles (18.5 tackles for loss), with two sacks and 15 interceptions.

By James Varney, The Times-Picayune

Continuing to push the undrafted free agent pedal to the metal, the Saints made Ohio State defensive tackle Dexter Larimore the second such addition to their roster Monday night.

New Orleans Saints’ Reggie Bush remains in Sean Payton’s playbook

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton made a strong commitment to tailback Reggie Bush on Tuesday, saying, “He’s a guy that we feel will be a part of our team.”

All contract talks, however, will be on hold until after the NFL lockout is lifted, and clearly Bush will need to agree to take a significant pay cut from the $11.8 million salary he is due in 2011. Eventually, though, Payton said he believes the organization and Bush will remain the best fit for one another once they agree on the running back’s true market value.

Latest development in NFL labor talks only brings aggravation

By John DeShazier, The Times-Picayune

Accusation.

Retaliation.

Decertification.

Litigation.

Aggravation.

That pretty much summarizes the NFL labor situation, which took a hard turn Friday when owners and players couldn’t reach an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement, and couldn’t even agree to extend the terms of the expiring one for another week to possibly give the sides more time to draw toward a resolution.
