The Saints didn’t give up but they finally ran out of time.
The shocking final score: Rams 37, Saints 29.
If ever there was a misleading score this was it. The game was never close after the first quarter.
The Saints did try to make things interesting late, though.
They scored a touchdown in the final minute, this one a 7-yard scoring pass from Drew Brees to tight end Eric Johnson, to pull within 10 points. Then, Reggie Bush added a two-point conversion run to make it 37-29 with 32 seconds left.
Alas, the Saints’ comeback chances ended there, though. On the ensuing on-side kick attempt, the Rams recovered at Saints’ 43-yard line and ran out the clock.
